When in doubt, have it checked out! If you suspect you have an injured, decayed, or damaged tooth, call Kennedy Dental Office right away. We can schedule a dental restoration appointment to get it looked at as soon as possible.
If you ignore a decayed tooth, the decay can spread quickly. Something that could have been fixed with a simple cavity could wind up requiring your entire tooth to be removed.
Ignoring a damaged tooth is also a bad idea, as a loose filling can easily turn into a missing filling. It’s best to talk to us right away if you have any concerns.
If you suspect you have decay or damage, call Kennedy Dental Office to schedule a dental restoration visit. We even offer emergency dental appointments.
Here are some of the restorative services Dr. Gopal and his team provide:
A cavity is a tiny hole in the enamel (top layer) of your tooth. We’re able to fix cavities by removing the decayed section and replacing it with a filling.
A crown may be suggested if your tooth already contains several fillings, or has a large amount of decay. This encircles (or “caps”) your tooth, protecting it and keeping it strong. Crowns can be made of gold, porcelain fused to metal, or pure white porcelain (to resemble a natural tooth).
We can repair damage to the biting surface of your tooth with an inlay. Made from porcelain, an inlay matches the color of your tooth and is very strong. It’s similar to a filling, and is neatly placed inside the cavity and cemented in place.
An onlay is similar to an inlay, except it involves more substantial dental reconstruction, and it covers one or more cusps. Dr. Gopal may suggest an onlay, rather than a crown, because more of the tooth structure can be conserved.
